My name is Derrick Scott III, and Luruth is my middle name. I believe all of life flows from our spiritual being. The deeper we go into understanding who we are as souls, the more we are able to experience life in its fullness. Whether it is a Northeast Florida university campus or my local United Methodist congregation, a craft brewery in Jacksonville or a meeting of leaders somewhere in the US, my goal is to inspire individuals to respond to the sparks of Grace that is all around us.
I am first a follower of Jesus. I seek to offer everything I do, all that I have and all that I am in response to all God has done for me in Christ. My passion is raising up a new generation of leaders and laborers who will live as disciples of Jesus Christ to transform the world. My work involves campus/collegiate ministry, lay leadership, institutional innovation and the intersection of technology and ministry.
I live in Jacksonville, Fl but can often be found on a Delta flight or texting on my phone. I am a proud black, gay and single man, campus minister, United Methodist Lay Leader, Enneagram 5w4, Cicerone Certified Beer Server, history graduate, and textbook introvert. I love eating sushi, flying on Delta, pouring craft beer, talking theology, and taking care of my Chihuahua-mix dog Winston and Bengal cat Julian. Most importantly, I hate mayonnaise.
